Artwork & Copyright Policy

Your design. Your permission. Quality printing.

At Van Tastic, we print custom designs on caravan awning screens. We respect the work of photographers, artists and designers, and ask our customers to do the same.

The simple rule: we can print artwork you own, have permission to use, or are legally entitled to reproduce.

1. What We Can Print

  • Your own photographs and original artwork, provided they do not infringe someone else’s rights.
  • Your business logo and advertising, where you own the material or have authority to use it.
  • Licensed stock images, where the licence covers the product, size, quantity and intended use. If you choose an image from the Shutterstock library and give us its image ID number, we license it under our own subscription - you don't need to buy a licence yourself.
  • Someone else’s artwork with written permission from the copyright owner covering the proposed printing.
  • Public-domain or openly licensed material, once its status and any conditions have been checked.

2. What Needs Permission or Checking First

Some popular designs belong to other people or organisations. Examples include:

  • Cartoon, movie, television and game characters.
  • Sporting club logos, team emblems and branded designs.
  • Band logos, album covers, music artwork and song lyrics.
  • Photographs of celebrities, performers or sporting personalities.
  • Images from Google, Facebook, Pinterest, websites or online galleries.
  • Artwork you have purchased from an artist, or downloaded yourself from a stock-image service.

Buying a picture, finding it online or owning a physical copy does not automatically give you permission to reproduce it. A stock-image licence may also restrict printing on products or items for resale.

3. What We Cannot Accept

We will decline artwork where the proposed printing appears to infringe someone else’s rights, or where required permission cannot be established. We will not:

  • Remove watermarks or copyright notices to bypass licensing.
  • Copy another business’s artwork without authority.
  • Print material that unlawfully suggests a business, celebrity or organisation endorses a product.
  • Print unlawful, threatening or discriminatory material.

4. “It’s Only for My Own Use” — Is That Okay?

Personal use does not automatically make copying lawful. A single print for your caravan, home or a gift may still need permission. Limited legal exceptions exist, but they do not provide a general right to print any image. If you believe an exception applies, please discuss it with us before ordering.

5. Can I Change an Image or Recreate It Using AI?

Changing colours, adding wording, redrawing an image or using AI does not automatically remove copyright or trade mark concerns. We can help create an original design based on a general theme — such as Australian wildlife, camping, cars or live music. Any protected characters, logos or copied artwork still need appropriate clearance.

6. What We May Ask You to Provide

  • The original artwork or its source.
  • A copy of the relevant licence or purchase terms.
  • Written permission from the rights holder.
  • Confirmation that you are authorised to use a business logo.

Permission must cover the actual job, including any alterations and whether the print is for personal use, advertising or resale. We may pause or decline an order if the rights remain unclear.

7. Your Artwork and Approval

By submitting artwork, you confirm that you own it, have suitable permission, or have another lawful basis for the requested printing.

You authorise Van Tastic to use the supplied material to prepare and fulfil your order. Supplying artwork does not transfer its ownership to us. We will seek your permission before using your custom artwork or photographs to promote our business.

Before production, please check your proof carefully, including spelling, phone numbers, layout and dimensions. We will raise any image-quality concerns we identify. Enlarging a small image cannot guarantee sharp detail, and printed colours may differ from a screen.

Nothing in this policy excludes your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

8. Not Sure About an Image?

Send us the image and tell us where it came from before placing your order. We can explain what evidence we need or help you choose an original alternative. Call us on 1300 326 188, use our Contact Page, or email vantastic@aussieoutdoor.com.au.
